We are proud to announce the publication of the Future Chronicles Handbook to Counter Gendered Disinformation, a key intellectual output of the Erasmus+ KA3 project Future Chronicles: From the Margins to the Centre.
The handbook is a comprehensive and accessible guide designed for young people, educators, youth workers, journalists, and anyone interested in understanding how gendered disinformation operates in today’s media ecosystems. Bringing together contributions from all project partners, the publication combines theoretical insights, real-life case studies, comparative European perspectives, and practical tools to support critical engagement with information.
Across its chapters, the handbook explores how communication, media systems, and digital platforms shape public narratives, with a particular focus on how gendered disinformation targets women, LGBTQIA+ people, migrants, and other marginalised groups. It addresses key issues such as cognitive biases, algorithmic amplification, visual manipulation, online harassment, AI-generated content, and the ethical challenges of debunking misinformation, always linking these phenomena to their broader democratic and social implications.
Rather than offering simple answers, the handbook invites readers to reflect, question, and develop media literacy as a form of digital self-defence and active citizenship. Each section includes reflective questions, practical exercises, and examples drawn from different European contexts, making the publication both educational and directly applicable in workshops, classrooms, and community settings.
The Future Chronicles Handbook represents a collective effort to transform awareness into knowledge and knowledge into action, supporting a new generation of informed and engaged young citizens capable of recognising, challenging, and reshaping harmful narratives in the digital public sphere.
📘 The handbook is now available for download on the project website in the section Tools for Truth
